help?

How do I add my first plant?
Open the Plants tab and tap the green + button in the top-right. From the New Plant screen you can take a photo, pick from your camera roll, or browse the built-in plant database to start with a sensible default schedule.
What's the built-in plant database?
An extensive library of common houseplants with default care schedules — watering, misting, fertilizing, and repotting cadence — based on common care guidance. Tap any entry to add it as one of your plants with the schedule pre-filled. You can change any of it after.
If a plant isn't there, search for it then tap Add to database to define your own entry.
Does Canopy work offline?
Yes. Canopy is entirely offline. There's no account to make, no server to talk to, no internet connection required.
How do schedules work?
Each plant can have its own schedule for watering, misting, fertilizing, and repotting. You set the cadence (every N days) and Canopy tracks when the next one is due. When you complete a task it counts toward your streak for that plant.
Can I get a reminder when something's due?
Yes. Go to Settings → Daily Reminder and enable it. Pick a time you're usually at your sharpest — Canopy will send one summary notification each day with what's due. No nags, no streak guilt.
I forgot to mark a task done — can I backdate it?
Tap the plant, scroll to the care item, and use the history controls to log a past completion. The streak counter is recalculated based on the dates you log.
Can I edit a plant after I've added it?
Yes — open the plant and tap the edit icon (top-right). You can change the name, nickname, species, room, photo, notes, and any of the care tasks.
How do I delete a plant?
Open the plant, tap edit, and scroll to the bottom — you'll find a Delete plant option. This removes the plant, its photo, and its full care history from your device.
Where are my photos stored?
Only on your iPhone, inside Canopy's app sandbox. They are not uploaded anywhere. If you have iCloud Backup turned on for your device, your photos will be included in that encrypted Apple-managed backup, but never sent to Canopy or any third party.
What data does Canopy collect?
None. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising IDs. Everything you put into Canopy stays on your iPhone.
Full details on the Privacy Policy page.
Will my data sync between devices?
Not in the current version. Canopy stores everything locally. If you restore to a new device from an iCloud backup, your Canopy data will come with it as part of the device backup.
My daily reminder isn't arriving.
Check that notifications are allowed for Canopy: open iOS Settings → Notifications → Canopy and ensure "Allow Notifications" is on. Then in Canopy, go to Settings → Daily Reminder and confirm it's enabled and set to the time you want.
The app feels slow with lots of plants.
If you have a very large collection or many high-resolution photos, scrolling can slow down on older devices. We're always working on performance — let us know your device and the rough number of plants and we'll dig in.
