Common questions
How do I add a trip?
Tap the + button on the Trips screen. Give it a title, choose Point‑to‑point or Multi‑leg, set a start date and start location (tap Use Home to start from your home base), then add your stops. Add a cover photo and you're done.
How are distances calculated?
Each leg between stops is measured and tagged by mode — drive, fly or ferry. TripFolio adds those up into a per‑trip distance and a running total by mode on the Stats screen. Distances are approximate, calculated from the coordinates of each stop.
How do stops, stays and ratings work?
Open a trip and add a stop for each place you spent time. Set the number of nights, give it a place name, tag the type (motel, camp, other), add a star rating and weather, and attach photos. The trip's nights and stop counts update automatically.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to any developer server — see the privacy policy for the full statement. This also means that if you uninstall TripFolio, your trips are permanently gone. There is no cloud backup, so export first if you want to keep a copy.
Does TripFolio use the internet?
Only for the map. TripFolio uses Apple Maps to draw the map view and to look up place names from coordinates — those requests are handled by Apple. Everything else works fully offline, and your saved trips are never uploaded anywhere.
Can I sync between devices?
No. TripFolio is intentionally a single‑device app with no cloud component. That's what keeps it private and free of subscriptions. If you're moving to a new phone, use Settings → Export all data as JSON to save your trips first.
How do I share a trip?
Open a trip and tap Share. Choose a Square or Story shape, then a style — Cinematic, Recap or Journal — add any text or stickers, and tap Share Card to send it through the standard iOS Share Sheet.
Can I export my trips?
Yes. Settings → Export all data as JSON hands a full backup file to the iOS Share Sheet, and Settings → Export route as GPX exports your route for use in other mapping apps. Photos are not included in the export.
How do I change the units, currency, colour, or theme?
Settings → Distance switches between KM and MI. Settings → Currency symbol sets the symbol (default AU$). Settings → Appearance offers Light, Dark, or Auto. Settings → Accent chooses from teal, blue, indigo, purple, rose, orange or green. Changes apply instantly.
How do I remove the TripFolio watermark from share cards?
Open Settings → Sharing and turn off Show TripFolio watermark. New share cards will be created without it.
Will there be an Android version?
Not currently planned. TripFolio is iOS‑only for the foreseeable future.
Will there ever be a subscription?
No. TripFolio is a one‑time AU$1.99 download with no in‑app purchases, no premium tier, and no subscription.
